The first step to accessing home care services in Australia is registering with My Aged Care, the government’s aged care gateway. An ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) assessment evaluates your health, lifestyle and care needs. This assessment determines whether you qualify for government-funded services such as a Home Care Package or other aged care support.

After approval, you’ll receive a letter confirming your eligibility and may join a waiting list until a package becomes available. Once assigned, you’ll receive a referral code that allows you to choose a provider like Brighter Living Home Support to begin your in-home care services.
